[Global] Emergency maintenance: Meltdown/Spectre software updates for Private CloudStack Platforms [Update]

till

[15:15 Update]
Dear LeaseWeb customer,

We wanted to provide a final update with regard to the ongoing work to address the Meltdown security vulnerability. All of the work patching the hypervisors on which your VM's run has now been completed. However due to the nature of the vulnerability, even with the hypervisors patched, it is still important for you to check the current patch levels of your own VM's to ensure that they are all up to date.

[10:00 Update]
Dear LeaseWeb customer,

To ensure that we can fully mitigate any potential threats from the Spectre and Meltdown exploits, and provide the best customer experience across all platforms, we will be extending the service window for our CloudStack private cloud customers in the Netherlands by one week.

WHAT CAN I EXPECT?
So as to minimize any interruptions when staff may be away from the office, we will pause work over the weekend (Jan. 27-28, 2018). We will once again begin the patching and upgrade work at 8:00 am Monday, January 29th and continue through Friday, February 2nd, during which time we will shut down systems and restart them on new hypervisors. The patching and upgrades will occur on a rolling basis over the course of the week to minimize service interruptions.

WHY ARE YOU PERFORMING THIS MAINTENANCE?
We are currently in the process of patching and updating all of our internal infrastructure and customer environments to ensure any potential vulnerabilities presented by the Spectre and Meltdown exploits are addressed.

WHEN EXACTLY WILL MY SERVICE BE IMPACTED?
The upgrade and patching process will run from January 29th – February 2nd during the hours on 8:00-17:00 CET. During this time there will be a one time short service interruption while your system is shut down and restarted.

As a reminder: If you have redundancy, please assign your systems to anti-affinity groups. This way, redundant systems will not be restarted at the same time.

If you have any concerns or questions regarding this maintenance, you can either contact your account manager directly or reach us at support@leaseweb.com.
